What is a Life Coach?

Let’s consider the other types of coaches you are familiar with, such as football coaches, fitness trainers, etc. These are trained professionals who specialize in helping others succeed in reaching their fullest potential and goals. They are able to see obstacles and counter-productive thought patterns that the client is unable to see alone.  While therapy or counseling is introspective and analytical, focusing on one’s past, life coaching is action-oriented and will focus on your current obstacles, challenges, and mindset to maximize your present life as well as your future. Life coaches are not health professionals, and they do not diagnose you.

The definition of a life coach is a professional who can help you excel in all areas of life. Some of the most common steps clients take while working with life coaches include:

  • Identifying goals and defining a vision for success
  • Clarifying calling and purpose
  • Creating professional and personal growth plans
  • Identifying limiting beliefs
  • Working toward financial freedom
  • Obtaining work/life balance
  • Learning to communicate more succinctly and effectively
  • Fostering more powerful connections professionally and personally
  • Getting promotions
  • Achieving weight loss and/or fitness goals
  • Starting a new business or growing an existing one
  • Managing an important life or business transition
  • Articulating core values

How does life coaching work?

Different coaches have different styles and methods. Julie’s favorite way to coach is live or over zoom video call, but some people prefer coaching via phone call which is also great! Each client’s action plan is a little different, as she doesn’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. The most important part of the process, in her experience, is the time she spends praying for, with, and about each client before any coaching session. Once you begin coaching with Julie she will work with you to help you identify your vision, goals, and what drives you. Who are you, truly? Once you’ve worked together to clearly answer those questions you can move onto current limiting beliefs, negative self talk, and other barriers that might be holding you back. Finally, you’ll be able to make an action plan together. Julie will help you set challenging but achievable goals.
